2021 Memorial Day Ceremony

The U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development is hosting a combined virtual and onsite Memorial Day Ceremony. It is scheduled for Thursday, May 27, 2021 (11:00 am – 12:30 pm EST). The HUD 2021 Memorial Day Theme is: ‘Honoring Our Fallen – 30th Anniversary Operation Desert Shield/Desert Storm – We Remember and Honor’.

You are cordially requested to join the Honorable Marcia L. Fudge, Secretary, U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development, the HUD Veterans Affinity Group (HUDVAG), Lieutenant General Russel L. Honoré, United States Army, (Ret.), Brigadier General Clara Adams Ender, United States Army, (Ret.), and Lieutenant Colonel Marisol Chalas, United States Army, Legislative Assistant to the 37th Vice Chief of Staff of the Army, along with Jill Etter, Director of Communications/National Board of Directors of The National Desert Storm War Memorial Association, and Chief Warrant Officer 5 Aaron P. Graff II, Commander, United States Army Old Guard Fife and Drum Corps (https://youtu.be/CNiWkHqdexE).  The Ceremony will also include special appearances from the Bowie State University, ROTC, 4th Brigade, United States Army Cadet Command, and the Women Veterans of America, Color Guard, Chapter 48, Denton, TX.   

The HUD VAG goal is to raise awareness to military and Veteran related events that celebrate observances during National Military Appreciation Month (NMAM). We hope that by joining VAG during our 15thAnnual Memorial Day Ceremony on Thursday, May 27, 2021, 11:00 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. you will find it to be a memorable, but honorable, and patriotic experience.

Facility Access:  Due to COVID protocols, physical access to the venue will be limited. If you are a Federal Government Employee and have a Valid HSPD-12 (Federal Employee ID Card) please present this at the security desk for entrance however, if you or your guest, are not Federal Government employees, and do not have a valid HSPD-12, or Federal ID you must RSVP to: Jerryl E. Bennett at: Jerryl.E.Bennett@hud.gov, with your first, and last name, DOB, and last four of SSN.  All outside guest must use the South Plaza Employee Entrance when entering the HUD building.  (Security screening is MANDATORY – Please bring proper photo ID).
